I usually do not write reviews, but this time I must. I gave this place a chance with a groupon coupon. The young waitress was nice and did a good job, but it all went down hill when it came to the food, the raw oysters had very little meat, the fried calamari were way extra crispy and a very small portion for an almost $11 order, the chicken wings again way extra crispy/ over done. It's a nice place but the cook needs to go or management must do something to improve the food quality, specially at those prices.

This place has awesome food and drink specials. The atmosphere is an island vibe. The night we were there they had a reggae band that was pretty good. It really made me feel like I was on a vacation but was just up the road. The service was great. We had James the bartender who had the entire downstairs under control. Great place

Since I've only been here once I'll keep this review short b/c I do plan on going back again and I feel as though you can't always give an accurate review off of just one visit. We were looking for a place to go for Brunch and my husband stumbled upon this place. They advertised decent specials so we decided to try it out. They were busy but not packed (good sign) so we headed upstairs to sit down. (they also have outdoor seating upstairs) I ordered the biscuits and gravy with fried chicken. I added hot sauce to it for some added flavor, but it was pretty good without it. My husband had the fried Shrimp basket and you could tell they were serving the fresh local Mayport Shrimp as they advertised (always a good thing in my book) and our friend ordered the quesadilla appetizer and it was HUGE (and he said it was delicious as well). All in all a great first impression. We'll definitely be returning to try more of the menu.

Great food and Excellent service! Started with coconut shrimp appetizer which was spot on. For main dish I had the teriyaki salmon which was very delicious. My husband got the fish tacos. They looked very skimpy with the filling but I tried it and was still delicious. Overall a very nice dinner and our waitress was very nice.

Horrible service, even worse food. I would not recommend this place to anyone! And the icing on the cake was how absolutely disgusting this place is, it looks like it's never been cleaned...

It is interesting for me to write a review of Blue Water - I've been at the beach for close to two years, and Blue Water was my first 'spot'. They used to have a promotion on Thursday where beach locals drank free for an hour, and my friends and I were all over it. That was always cool, and the other drink specials were usually good. On top of that, the staff was very nice and I ended up befriending a lot of them. However, the food was absolutely atrocious. After the phasing out of said locals special, I gradually stopped visiting outside of the occasional stop on Friday for a cheap frozen daiquiri. A few weeks ago, I was there grabbing said daiquiri when I remembered that Blue Water was under new ownership - although this was old news, the menu hadn't changed, so I assumed the food sourcing hadn't either. The bartender told me that wasn't the case, so I ordered some chicken fingers and my girlfriend ordered oysters casino. Both dishes were very well executed. Chicken fingers are easy, but I love them, and they were obviously hand battered and breaded. The oysters were a tad steep, but according to the bartender they are from Safe Harbor, so it's worth the money. Can't speak to the quality of the 16+ club nights that seem to still be going on there, but the drink specials continue to be good and the new ownership has obviously put an effort in to stepping up the quality of food service. If you are in the area I recommend giving Blue Water a shot.

Happy Hour - Sweet OK Food - there's nothing on the menu that will make me specifically come here. Service - Iffy at best. This is one of the few beach bar that doesn't have a great view. At most you can grab up stairs seating on the balcony and people watch the street or get a blast of what's going on at FreeBirds. But the bar usually makes up for lack on scenery. Food is ok. Rarely is anything more than just ok (3 stars). Sometimes to blacken, too greasy, or items just missing. And always a long wait! On the last visit there were several people that were missing items off there meals and one person that sat over 20 minutes with no food. Of course we told the waitress immediately after everyone had received their food and his still no where in site. She asked if someone might have taken/ eaten his food? Like really??? Then when she finally checked with the kitchen she said the item he ordered wasn't even available? (This is more of a service issue than food.) But it goes back to the food really isn't the main pull to this location. I've only come here in groups of 5 or more. (I'm guessing this is why everything always takes forever.) Every time we come we get assigned one server. Great if that server could give us decent service. It always feels like the worst server takes the biggest groups. Most people will be given okay (3 star) service and one is always screwed. One person somehow gave their card after reviewing the receipt - but when given her receipt to sign - her card/receipt showed drinks from another table. On last visit, we took over upstairs on a very hot Sunday afternoon. It was like our own private party upstairs since most locals keep close to the bar on the first floor. Wooden floors were perfect for line dancing and bachata as the DJ seemed to cater to our love of 90's hits and Latin dance music. Once again issues with food and service - but drinks were cool (was surprised that they had a weekend happy hour) and bartender even got up to dance. So this place is A-OK for drinks at the bar and sitting out on the balcony to hear the overflow from FreeBirds.

Came here for lunch on Wednesday around noon while i was on a mini vacation. It wasn't crowded but there were still a good amount of people there which was a good sign that even during their least busiest time they still have customers. I read mixed reviews on this place, but after dining here i'm happy i did. For my drink i had the superman daiquiri that was a combination of blue berry and strawberry daiquiri mixed together. I added a floater of rum to it for about $1.50 extra which was a great addition to make the daiquiri as strong as i desired. For my entree i ordered the fried shrimp basket. The dish came with about 12 fried jumbo shrimp and a side of your choice which i had sweet potatoe fries. Now this is where the 4 star really came into the scene...their shrimp is amazingly battered and cooked. The seasoning used in the batter is phenomenal. I also tasted my friend's fried fish basket. The fish was fried extremely well and was crunchy, but i would have to say the shrimp was a little more seasoned which is exactly what makes the shrimp a MUST HAVE!!!. The fries were average, but hey when you come to a florida beach you are looking for great seafood, and this is exactly what i received. Great job and will definitely come back if i'm ever in Jacksonville again.

Good food, good service, and fair prices--the three essentials for repeat business. I'll stop in for drinks next time (which will likely be next weekend when I'm back at the beach) and let you know how the bar is.

Horrible service all the way across the board! I did like this place sucks it went downhill so fast! Food still good if you have the patients to wait! Part of 6 took 2 1/2 hours and we still didn't get all the food we ordered!

Excellent atmosphere! This tropical Jax Beach enclave is surrounded by lively establishments. It sets itself apart with it's unique second story street front porch and vast selection of frozen daiquiris! The food service will exceed your expectations. You can conclude your nightlife experience by dancing upstairs to the hypnotic sounds of live bands traveling through town. Here you'll most likely meet famous artist enjoying a night cap and fraternizing among the locals. This is the place to conclude your vacation with lasting fond memories.

Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon with a co-worker and was not too packed. Sat at the bar and our Bartender (Jeremy) was awesome and was very attentive. I had the fish basket and some fries and my friend ordered the Fried Oyster Po Boy sandwich. We also ordered some Chicken Wing Appetizers, the wings are huge and delicious. They could have been a meal all by themselves. My Fish basket was really good and not overdone. My co-workers Fried Oyster Po Boy was also really good. I tried one of the oysters and found that they were really fresh tasting also. The price range for food and drinks was really good also. I had like 5 drinks and my food and it was only like $40. I would recommend this establishment to my friends.

Nothing special about their daiquiris, slow service, incorrect orders, and poor attitudes. As as out of town patron, be wary as the cost to quality ratio doesn't justify the money spent.

We went today to get some lunch with our son. I handed the "manager" my military id and said it was sufficient for of ID.. Extremely rude!! From the minute we walked in made us so upset we walked out!! Customer service needs a hand!!! Way to treat the military folks like crap! Ps a military is plenty sufficient! I wish I could put negative stars

Decent at best. Service was ok but not busy inside as all. Decor is terrible. Oysters were ok but no where near good. Fish tacos were bland and lacking on fish...

First time in but what a relaxing and fun friendly bar the value of the special for $3 daiquiris is great!

It seems more like a local hangout than others. Arrived and the bottom was full of a Texas hold'em tournament. Sat at the bar and had a couple of Daiquiris and dinner. The Ahi Tuna was seared a little more than I would have liked but tasty nonetheless. I had the Blacked Mahi Bowl and it was great. I could have eaten a lot more of it. I was playing pretty good music the night I was there downstairs. Upstairs is what looks like a small dance floor area with a couple of patio areas for drinking and having a good time. Sadly I had to drive so I was not able to stay later and deink more.

This hit the spot! Drove over to Jax for a late lunch and decided to try this spot. Not busy on a late afternoon Friday in November so that was nice! We got the strawberry and piña colada daiquiri first and that was a classic deliciousness. Got a brain freeze but...worth it! Good music too and light up bar tables! The fish tacos were yummy and the fries were the best! The fries were crispy and seasoned. I tried a couple bites of the fried oyster po' boy and it was crunchy and tangy. Would definitely come back and recommend.

Decent food, except for the fact they were out of oysters .. And they have an entire oyster section on the menu! Service was horrible. They were too short staffed for a busy night.
